About

Writing weird, whimsical words for a weird, whimsical world…

Hello there, dear Reader! I’m Brittany, and I hope this “About” page finds you well.

As a lifelong fan of the written word, I love characters and their stories. I write strange and simple stories about strange and simple characters on their journeys toward becoming fully human. More specifically, I write in the speculative fiction genre, and often within the “weird fiction” sub-genre. I’ve been heavily inspired and influenced by fantasy, science fiction, and horror ever since I was a little girl.

My favorite stories are those which entertain me and make me want to be a better human, and so I’ve made it my mission as an author to tell those same types of stories. I want my readers to have fun in the midst of healing, and to find hope amongst the horrific.

A few fun facts about me include, but are not limited to:

  • I absolutely adore alliteration.
  • I also absolutely abhor Artifical Intelligence.
    • NOTE: I will never [knowingly or willingly] use A.I. in any of my work, nor will I ever [knowingly or willingly] hire anyone who uses it. I still value its users as human beings, but I’m just not about endorsing or supporting the impending robot hellscape.
  • I occasionally make zines. (You can buy my zines in my Etsy shop.)
  • If I could have coffee with any writer, living or dead, I would choose the GOAT, Mr. Rod Serling.
  • I’m an almost lifelong resident of Idaho, USA.
  • My family and I converted to Eastern Orthodoxy in 2019.
  • I’m Brent’s wife and Declan’s mama.
  • I was diagnosed with ADHD at 34 years old, and my entire life makes sense now.
  • I’m an alumni of St. Basil Writers’ Workshop.
  • I’m the oldest of four siblings.
  • I’m an Enneagram 4w3…if you’re into that sort of thing.
  • I’m also a freelance editor, and member of the Editorial Freelance Association.
  • I have a bachelors degree in Human & Family Services.

Thanks so very much for stopping by! I hope you find something to strike your fancy here among my spooky, silly little stories.

Godspeed, Spider-Man!
